Over 40 services providers from across the continent gathered in London last night for the ICFA European Awards 2009.

BNY Mellon came away with five awards, including the coveted European Securities Services provider of the Year and European Hedge Fund Administrator of the Year (AUA more than $100 billion).

JPMorgan won four awards and Mourant three, with Citi's Jervis Smith scooping the brand new ICFA European Personality of the Year award.

Commenting on the judging process, ICFA publisher Jon Greene said: "In previous years a good reputation, a slick marketing presentation and some high quality client testimonials might have been enough to secure an award.

"This year nominating firms had to go several miles further. In particular, the communications teams of the nominating firms may have gone through several pairs of running shoes.

"Finding the answers to many of the questions we asked often meant spending considerable time with their operational departments. Some have even told us that the questions we asked have forced them to look again at how they market themselves externally and how they present their products and services."

BNY Mellon's communications team was also singled out and commended by the judging panel for the quality of the bank's submissions.

European Broker/Dealer Custody & Clearing Provider of the Year - BNY Mellon

European Transition Management Provider of the Year  - JPMorgan

Most Innovative European Project - Point Nine

European Mutual Fund Administrator of the Year - BNP Paribas

European Private Equity Fund Administrator of the Year - Mourant

European Legal Services Provider of the Year - Ogier

European Property Fund Administrator of the Year - Mourant

Regional Sub-custodian of the Year: South Europe - SGSS
